Klay Thompson breaks the silence after joining Mavericks with excited 5-word message
By Noah Weber
The beginning of the NBA offseason has already flown by, as most of the big fish free agents have already signed with their new teams.
The Dallas Mavericks have done a great job at reloading their roster around Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving, and they are poised to be among the top teams in the Western Conference again next year due to their new additions.
Dallas started the offseason off by trading for Quentin Grimes and signing Naji Marshall, but their biggest move this summer was acquiring Klay Thompson through a six-team sign-and-trade.
Dallas locked up Thompson on a three-year, $50 million contract, and they absolutely aced this signing. The Mavs were looking for more shooting via free agency, and they happened to land one of the greatest shooters ever in Thompson.
Klay Thompson shows excitement about joining Mavericks with 5-word message
The Mavs' sign-and-trade for Thompson finally got finalized over the weekend, and he broke the silence with a five-word statement that shows how pumped up he is to be a Maverick.
"This gonna be so fun," Thompson said on his Instagram story regarding him becoming a Maverick.
Mavs fans are ecstatic that Thompson is joining this roster that is already stacked, and he seems to feel the same way. Just like we saw with Irving over the last season and a half, the Mavs should provide Thompson with a less stressful environment when comparing it to playing for the Golden State Warriors and allow him to get back to having the most fun possible while playing basketball.
One of the reasons that Thompson chose to sign with the Mavericks over the Los Angeles Lakers was due to the fact that playing for the Lakers could give similar vibes to playing for the Warriors, and Dallas is completely different from either of those organizations.
Nico Harrison has turned Dallas into a spot in which free agents want to join, and that has been exemplified by him re-signing Irving last summer and signing Thompson this summer. Thompson can't wait to have some "fun" with the Mavs, and his new teammates and the organization as a whole likely feel the same way.
For all the latest on Klay Thompson and the Dallas Mavericks all offseason long, stay tuned.
