Dallas Mavericks point guard Kyrie Irving has only won one championship in his 13-year NBA career. Irving won his only championship with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2016. Last season with the Mavericks, Irving had his championship dreams get destroyed by the Boston Celtics.

Irving will go down as one of the most talented point guards in NBA history, but Irving can climb higher among the best point guards of all time if he was to win another championship with the Dallas Mavericks. Irving's talent has gotten unbelievable praise from current and former players this offseason to add more motivation for himself to win another championship.

If Irving wants to win another championship in his career, 2025 can be the year to do it. With already playing with his sidekick Luka Doncic, it might not be only Doncic that helps him win another NBA championship, but also a player that the Mavs acquired in July.

Irving's NBA title 'dreams' are possible because of Thompson

The Mavericks made one of the biggest splashes in free agency when the team completed a sign-and-trade to acquire Klay Thompson from the Golden State Warriors. The move sent the whole city of Dallas and the team's excitement through the roof.

When the Mavericks held their media day, Irving called Thompson joining Dallas a "big splash," and continued to speak highly of Thompson on how he can bring success to Dallas and help the team win a championship along with referring to him, Thompson, and Doncic as a "big three."

"We feel like we got better as a team," Irving said. "We got better as a group that has leadership, and especially experience on that championship stage."

It's no secret that Irving has a championship in his sight this season with the Mavericks adding Thompson. This season is one of the biggest in not only Mavericks' history but each of their big three as well.

Both Irving and Doncic are eager to lead the Mavericks back to the Finals after having a heartbreaking loss against the Celtics in 2024. For Thompson, a big season is needed with how rough his Warriors tenure ended.

Thompson shot 0-of-10 from the field in his final Warriors game in the 2024 Play-In Tournament against the Sacramento Kings. Even with missing all 10 field goal attempts, Thompson has brought in traits that the Mavericks have been desperately missing for years, and Irving can't wait to play with Thompson and have dreams of winning a championship with him.

"I feel like our dreams can be possible because he's here now," Irving said.

It's clear that Irving has dreams of winning a championship with Thompson joining Dallas. Dallas' big three offers a real chance to win an NBA championship this season. The Mavericks proved in the 2024 playoffs they can take down elite teams in the Western Conference, and will be a top team to beat.
