The 2024 NBA offseason has been nothing short of amazing for many NBA franchises. One team that capitalized most on its recent run to the NBA Finals was the Dallas Mavericks after making multiple groundbreaking moves to improve their chances of winning a title in the years to come.

The Mavericks began their slew of offseason additions by signing future Hall of Famer Klay Thompson to a three-year, $50 million deal. The team then rounded out their roster by signing former fan-favorite guard, Spencer Dinwiddie.

Dinwiddie now brings much-needed shooting and creation off the bench to the guard position after the Mavericks got exposed by the Boston Celtics in the Finals.

Fans will recall that the Mavericks traded Dinwiddie in the original deal to acquire Kyrie Irving from the Brooklyn Nets. While many fans and analysts initially shunned the Mavericks after trading for a disgruntled star like Irving, the trade can now be summed up as a complete fleece.

Mavericks' trade for Kyrie Irving has now become a total Dallas win

The 2022-23 Mavericks squad was in a completely different position than they are in today. The team not only missed out on the playoffs entirely, but the Mavericks failed to keep their generational superstar Luka Doncic happy. Despite having very few positive things to say about the 2022-23 Mavericks, the team did take a huge risk in trading for Kyrie Irving.

Irving had previously been described as one of the league's biggest headaches, after leaving his last three teams worse than when he got there. However, Dallas still took the chance on Irving and a year and a half later, it's looking like one of the best trades in league history.

Bleacher Report recently revisited the deal that sent Irving to Dallas and had nothing but positive things to say about the current state of Irving's tenure in Dallas. Bleacher Report initially gave the Mavericks a D grade for the trade to acquire Irving. However, after revisiting the trade, Dallas received an A grade

Irving has bought into the Mavericks culture and more importantly has accepted his role as Doncic's co-star.

While Irving has been an amazing addition to the Mavericks, the team has sought to make the Irving trade look like a complete win and one way Dallas did so was by re-signing Dinwiddie to a cost-friendly deal.

The original deal also included Markieff Morris who became indispensable for the Mavericks during their latest playoff run. Despite Dallas not re-signing the fan-favorite forward just yet, it just adds more truth to the fact that the Mavericks aced the Irving trade.

While the Mavericks have yet to win a championship with Irving on the roster, the team has made plenty of moves to ensure they will get another shot at returning to the Finals. Irving will undoubtedly play another huge role for the Mavericks.
