The Dallas Mavericks will begin training camp next month. Dallas will have a new look this year, as the team revamped its roster with new players such as Klay Thompson, Quentin Grimes, and Naji Marshall. The team also brought back former teammate Spencer Dinwiddie to solidify their bench.

The moves mentioned were key, as they boosted the team's needs for high-IQ defense, 3-point shooting, and extra ball-handling skills. For example, players like Thompson, Grimes, and Marshall could make the Mavs one of the top 3-point shooting teams. All three players are also good defenders who can make an immediate impact.

The newcomers have also made their presence known among the team before stepping on the court. Many of the new players were seen bonding during a trip to California last month. The players posted photos and videos of teammates jumping off a boat while spending quality time. This is important, as the Mavs look to build off their team chemistry from last season.

One player who was seen spending with the team was Markieff Morris. The NBA champion continued to spend time with the team, even though he had yet to be signed. The Mavs and Morris expressed mutual interest in a reunion, but it didn't become official until this weekend.

Mavericks bringing back Morris solidifies championship aspirations

The move became a reality yesterday when Dallas re-signed Morris to a contract. This was a signing the team desperately wanted, as Morris was a key teammate and motivator in helping the Mavs make a deep playoff run. He did a great job motivating and helping his teammates on the bench. Morris also established an important connection with his teammates, as he played a role in improving the team's morale.

For example, back in March, the team was on a three-game losing streak. Things seemed to be going downhill, as Dallas lost to the Indiana Pacers by 16 points. Things eventually changed as Morris was the main guy speaking out. He became the voice of the locker room, motivating players and encouraging them to keep their heads up.

Morris extended that same intensity in the playoffs encouraging his teammates to "stick together." It is his words and presence that help motivate the team to continue playing at a high level. Morris is an NBA veteran who has been to the playoffs seven times. He won a championship with the Los Angeles Lakers during the 2019-2020 season. Morris is one of the team's oldest players, as he brings a ton of knowledge and experience to a team that has high championship aspirations. Bringing him back solidifies the team's mission to make another deep playoff run.

The Mavericks now have the perfect experience of youth and experience. Morris is the perfect guy to mentor the young players and guide the veterans.

Signing Morris now solidifies the team's roster. Dallas will now likely have to decide with A.J. Lawson, as they could opt to waive him and then re-sign him to a two-way contract. There isn't currently room on the 15-man roster for Morris, but the easiest way to ensure there is room for him would be to waive Lawson.

The Mavs' season can't come soon enough, as the team brought back most of their core.
