One of Luka Doncic's fellow draft classmates is giving him flowers.
Jaren Jackson Jr. is an NBA All-Star known for his athleticism, length, and defensive nature.
In a recent interview, he happened to mention his fellow draft classmate, Luka Doncic. Jackson Jr. claims Doncic's stardom took him by surprise.
Jackson Jr.'s doubt in Doncic quickly turned into a reality check
One of the great players in the NBA had a reality check when Luka Doncic was in his rookie year.
Jackson Jr., a member of the 2018 NBA Draft, recently used Doncic as an example to never judge a book by its cover.
In a recent interview, Jackson Jr. was in awe of Doncic's greatness halfway through his rookie season, but at first, he was skeptical of a new kid from overseas.
When Jackson Jr. was asked when Doncic was a real star in the making, he said January of his rookie year.
"When he got off the draft bus... It's like your first time seeing this guy everyone's talking about, like this myth... everything else has just been insane. He looks like he's been in the league like 100 years," Jackson Jr. said.
It seems like now, Doncic overpowers against his classmates from that draft. Of course, Atlanta's Trae Young has a sweet stroke on his jump shot, and he's a well-respected athlete. Deandre Ayton has been to the NBA Finals but hasn't been selected to an All-Star game. Mikal Bridges is known for his perfect attendance and hard work. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is an MVP candidate in the making.
The point is no one comes close to Doncic and his level of skill. Even the legend, Dirk Nowitzki, knew Doncic was set for greatness right away.
He already has a Hall of Fame career. At the age of 25, he was included in a bold ranking that shows he has a legendary career ahead of him.
No one has come close to his skill in his draft class, and now he's in the same conversation with greats like LeBron James.
He hopes to add to his resume by bringing his team to an NBA championship in 2025.
