Dallas Mavericks best lineup heading into 2022-2023 season: 1. Small ball

The Mavs had success going small and spacing the floor for Luka Doncic. Maxi Kleber was the key to the unit because of his unique ability to protect the rim and defend on the perimeter. It came at the sacrifice of rebounding, but head coach Jason Kidd happily accepted that tradeoff.

PG: Luka Doncic

SG: Spencer Dinwiddie

SF: Reggie Bullock

PF: Dorian Finney-Smith

C: Maxi Kleber

This was the team’s fourth most used lineup in the 2022 playoffs, and they had a 27.1 net rating, which was their best in a five-man group that played more than ten total minutes. The Mavericks had a 128.0 offensive rating with this group on the floor, and that was the fifth-best lineup in the NBA that played at least 25 minutes on the floor together in the postseason.

The Dallas Mavericks will go back to this unit often when the games matter most because it offers the perfect balance of floor spacing and perimeter defense. Teams will go small in the playoffs, and this unit allows the Mavs to match up on both ends of the floor.
