Unexpected activity takes Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving's bond to next level
By Noah Weber
The Dallas Mavericks are in the middle of an intense Western Conference Finals series against the Minnesota Timberwolves, and they are proving the doubters wrong one series at a time as they advance through the NBA Playoffs.
Game 2 was as intense as ever, and the Mavs battled back after trailing by 18 points to win the game.
Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving continue to be outstanding for Dallas, and their bond on and off the floor continues to grow.
It's obvious that this superstar duo loves playing with each other by the way they talk about one another, but it's also clear on the floor. They have turned into an outstanding tandem, and they bring the best out of each other.
Spades tournament takes Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving's bond to next level
It's clear that this duo's bond continues to grow, but one activity that hasn't been talked about until now reportedly brought this duo together even more and shows just how close they are.
According to Shams Charania, during the Mavericks' extended stay in Los Angeles at the time of Thanksgiving, Irving hosted the entire Mavs team and their families to his home in LA to play a Spades tournament.
Irving and Doncic playing in this Spades tournament helped them get even closer than before, and both Doncic and Irving's families were there. Irving stepping up as a leader of the team and hosting his teammates at his home shows how much he likes the guys he's around, and this worked wonders for the team's chemistry.
Charania also dived into how the team's preseason trip to Abu Dhabi and Madrid provided the team with time to bond and build some chemistry, and the vibes around the Mavs right now point to them being a championship team.
Once you're this late in the playoffs, truly liking the men you go to work with every day is important, and the Mavs are embodying that through every series.
Doncic and Irving will look to take a commanding lead in this series as it returns to Dallas for Game 3 on Sunday.
For all the latest on Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic throughout the 2024 NBA Playoffs, stay tuned.
