Dallas Mavericks best lineups after 2022 summer additions

Dallas Mavericks best lineup heading into 2022-2023 season: 2. Adding Wood
The Mavs need this to be one of the best lineups if they are going to make a deep playoff run. It blends what worked last year with a better shooter, scorer, and roll man at the five. The problem is what does Wood offer on the other end?
PG: Luka Doncic
SG: Spencer Dinwiddie
SF: Reggie Bullock
PF: Dorian Finney-Smith
C: Christian Wood
This lineup has all the ingredients for success. Two ball-handlers? Check. Two elite perimeter defenders? Check. A stretch five that rebounds well? Check. Wood’s rebounding at the five could be game-changing. It was the Mavericks' biggest weakness during the 2022 playoffs, but can the 26-year-old replicate his production from his days with the Rockets on a winning team?
Doncic, Dinwiddie, Bullock, and Finney-Smith worked well on the floor together for the Dallas Mavericks last season, but who plays the five this year? Wood has plenty of competition from Maxi Kleber, JaVale McGee, Dwight Powell, and Davis Bertans.
It worked well with Kleber last season, but is he the best option moving forward? That will depend on what Christian Wood can do with more responsibility on a contending squad. This is a strong group, but the Mavericks' best lineup is likely to be a familiar one for MFFLs.
