Anthony Edwards says he'll guard Kyrie Irving in Western Conference Finals

All eyes are on the Mavericks' series against the Timberwolves now, and Anthony Edwards made a bold and seemingly confident statement about his upcoming matchup with Dallas.

When asked about his upcoming matchup with the Mavs, Edwards immediately said "my matchup is gonna be Kyrie, so that's gonna be fun. We gonna see what I can do verse him."

Edwards immediately revealing that he's going to be the one guarding Irving is an interesting approach, and all eyes will be on this matchup in Game 1. Edwards continues to be elite on both ends of the floor, and both players will need to have a big series for their respective teams to make the NBA Finals.

Irving is coming off more of a quiet series against the Thunder as he only averaged 15.7 points per game, but his defense and passing in this series were outstanding. The Thunder forced Irving to be a playmaker, and he made them pay for that.

Edwards is coming off a big series against the Nuggets as he averaged 27.7 points per game while shooting 50 percent from the field, and the Mavs will have their hands full trying to guard him.

The defensive matchup of Edwards on Irving is definitely going to be magnified after Edwards said this after the game, and it's going to be a great test for both players.
