2022 NBA Draft mock #27: Miami Heat (via Nets): Nolan Hickman
Hickman originally committed to Kentucky before deciding to play for Gonzaga this season. The 6’2 point guard was one of the top players coming out of high school and profiles to play a key role for the Bulldogs this year.
Hickman has a versatile game. The 18-year-old commands the floor and is a strong playmaker to go along with his outside shooting and floater. He will be looking to prove that he can consistently hit threes and run an offense this season. The 6’2 guard could jump up draft boards and go in the lottery if he has a standout freshman year for the Bulldogs.
Hickman is not an elite athlete and is a touch undersized. Some teams will knock him down their boards because of it, but he has plenty of skill to be a first-round pick and thrive in the NBA. The 18-year-old needs to add mass and fill into his body to make a massive impact .
The Heat just signed Kyle Lowry but could be searching for a long-term option at point guard in this draft. Nolan Hickman gives them a high IQ player that could thrive in Miami’s system. Expect the teenager to have plenty of suitors if he performs well at Gonzaga this season.
