2022 NBA Draft mock #23: Dallas Mavericks: Roko Prkacin
The Mavericks owe their 2023 first-round pick with a top ten protection to the New York Knicks, so they will have to make the selection here. They could trade the pick, but only on draft night. Will Dallas eye a late first-round prospect or try to turn it into a helpful rotation piece as they attempt to build a title contender around Luka Doncic?
Prkacin was entered into the NBA Draft in 2021 before withdrawing at the last moment. He has three seasons of professional experience under his belt already and played a key role for KK Cibona last year where he averaged 12.9 points, 7.1 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 1.0 steal in 26.5 minutes per game over 54 contests in two different competitions.
The 6’9 forward has a ton of upside. He can create his own shot and profiles as a versatile defender. Prkacin has an inconsistent jumper, but he showed improvement last season. His outside shooting is something to watch if takes on a larger role with the Senior team.
The Dallas Mavericks were one of the best teams at scouting international players under Donnie Nelson. Will that change with Nico Harrison in the general manager and president of basketball operations role? Regardless, Roko Prkacin is a skilled forward with a ton of potential that is likely to be a first-round pick in the 2022 NBA Draft.
