2022 NBA Draft mock #9: Chicago Bulls: Peyton Watson
Watson is another talented wing in this class, but the 19-year-old is 6’8 and under 200 pounds. He needs to add mass during his freshman season at UCLA to play in the NBA as a rookie.
Watson played a limited role for Team USA in the FIBA Under-19 World Cup where he averaged 4.0 points, 3.4 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 1.1 blocks in 12.4 minutes per over seven games. It was a small sample size, but it underscores the teenager’s versatility on the court. He can guard multiple positions, handle the ball, make plays, and just gets after it on both ends of the floor.
It will be interesting to see what role Watson takes on at UCLA. A strong season could have him going in the top five, but will the Bruins showcase his skill set? How much will Watson handle the ball and be able to create? Does it flash at the college level? Watson is a must-watch prospect this season.
The Bulls revamped their roster this offseason and plan on being in the playoffs. If they wind up selecting here, it will be a massive disappointment but should have Chicago looking for a strong defender with versatility, which is a role that fits Peyton Walsh perfectly.
