The Dallas Mavericks drafted highly touted rookie Luka Doncic and here is a look at three things to expect from him this season.

The Dallas Mavericks are about to begin another season.  Training camp begins with media day on Sept. 21.  Then, the regular season kicks off on Oct. 17 in Phoenix against the Suns.

Fans are excited about the season.  It started with the massive trade on draft night to secure the services of Luka Doncic and continued in free agency with the addition on DeAndre Jordan.  The Mavs are expecting to make a significant improvement this season.  They are hoping to contend for a playoff spot.

Mavs fans are also hoping Doncic becomes their franchise player after the retirement of the legendary Dirk Nowitzki.  He has the pedigree including winning the Euroleague and Spanish Liga ACB MVP’s last season at age 19.  Doncic is an exceptional player, but this year is just the first step for the young man.

Building a backcourt and team around Doncic and Dennis Smith Jr. is Dallas’ plan to return to contention.  Playing alongside Dirk this season should be a fantastic experience for the two youngsters.  They are hoping to grow into the franchise icon status Dirk has reached.

Today, we focus in on Luka Doncic and what Mavericks fans can expect from him this season.  The highly touted rookie has played professionally in Spain the last four seasons so that transition may be a little more natural for the 19-year-old.  Here are three expectations fans can have for Doncic as a rookie.
