After facing the harsh reality that the Dallas Mavericks would be without their superstar center, Anthony Davis, for the foreseeable future, the team has begun to rally around All-Star guard Kyrie Irving. Over the last two games, Irving has scored 30 and 42 points while leading the Mavs to a nail-biting loss against the Sacramento Kings and a confident win over the revamped Golden State Warriors.

While Irving has led the team with two impressive back-to-back performances, the Mavericks will be without frontcourt depth for the next few weeks as Daniel Gafford went down with an untimely knee sprain in Monday's loss. With this in mind, Dallas' biggest need has become frontcourt help.

With Davis going down for the foreseeable future, fans have begun to call into question the Mavericks' leadership once again. After making two head-scratching trades between the Davis-Doncic swap and the Quentin Grimes trade, fans are livid.

Sixers are already realizing Grimes' full potential

When Dallas shockingly traded Grimes, who was one of the team's few ball handlers, it understandably set some fans over the limit during the trade deadline. As a Maverick, Grimes largely came off the bench but supplied Dallas with lots of energy on both ends of the floor and stable ball handling when needed. Mavs fans knew that there was much more to his game than the 3-and-D guard that he was advertised as, and the Philadelphia 76ers are realizing that after less than two weeks of him being on the team.

Grimes wasn't just an outside shooter like he was in New York, and he gained the love of plenty of Maverick fans with his ability to play hard and put the ball on the floor. Since being traded to Philadelphia, Grimes has picked up right where he left off in Dallas.

Over his last three games as a Sixer, Grimes has scored in double figures each time, and during Wednesday night's loss to the Brooklyn Nets, Grimes scored a season-high 30 points. After a performance like this, Grimes' role in Philly will likely increase and only grow larger if he continues to play well.

Grimes shot an impressive 4-9 from behind the arc which only got Philly fans even more excited over four quarters. Considering Grimes has a player option at the end of this season, his name could be a hot topic for teams looking to make an upgrade at the guard spot.

Grimes won't only bring Philadelphia much-needed scoring off the bench, but he will give the city of brotherly love a much-needed jolt of energy off the bench on the defensive end. In Dallas, Grimes became one of the team's few guards who could defend at the point of attack and knock down a shot from behind the arc on the opposite end.

After Grimes' 30-point performance against the Nets, Mavs fans' week has only gotten worse. While Irving is balling and leading the Maverick to two wins in the last three games, there's no doubt Grimes could have been performing well off the bench and giving them some secondary ball handling.

It's unclear what Grimes plans to do in the offseason, but fans would love to have him back in a Dallas uniform after witnessing his 30-point masterclass. With Grimes in Philly, the Mavericks will have even more injury-riddled weeks in their future, with the All-Star break just days away.
