The last 11 days have been an absolute rollercoaster for Dallas Mavericks fans ever since Luka Doncic got traded to the Los Angeles Lakers for Anthony Davis, and right as things looked like they were going to get better on Saturday as Davis was dominating in his debut, it got worse.

Davis went down with an adductor injury, and despite initially thinking that he was going to be fine, he is now set to miss multiple weeks. He got injured at the absolute worst time, as Dallas' frontcourt was already banged up, and the frontcourt injuries got even worse on Monday night.

Daniel Gafford suffered a right knee sprain against the Sacramento Kings, and how he is set to miss multiple weeks. The Mavericks dropped this game 129-128 in overtime to Sacramento following a game-winning bucket by DeMar DeRozan, and this frustration from the loss boiled over after the game as well.

Jason Kidd says the Mavericks want to add frontcourt help

Jason Kidd skipped his postgame press conference to "regroup" after losing a tough game and another player going down with an injury. Kidd said he has never seen anything like this when it comes to injuries, and that has been the main thing that he and Nico Harrison have been talking about recently.

"The talk has just been strictly about the injuries," Kidd said about his recent conversations with Harrison. "Figuring out who we can get in to help us and right now we’re pretty landlocked."

Dallas currently has an open roster spot, but due to a complication with the new CBA, they can't sign a player until later in the season. This puts the Mavericks into an extremely complicated situation, but Kidd didn't rule out making a move with one of their two-way spots.

"That’s all I’m focused on is how can we fill some of the holes or can we fill that last roster spot or can we find another two-way that can help us that’s taller than six-seven," Kidd said. "Or if he is six-seven, can he play physical and can he help us right now."

Kidd made it clear that he and Harrison are looking for a player who can help them right now and has good size, and taking that quote into consideration, they could cut one of their two-way guys and bring in someone different.

Dallas currently has Kylor Kelley, Brandon Williams, and Kessler Edwards on two-way deals, and out of those three players, Edwards plays the most. He has started in four games for Dallas this season, and in February he is averaging 17.0 minutes per game. Kelley has also got some playing time since being signed by the Mavericks last month, but his role has been much more limited than Edwards' role. He has only played for six minutes combined over the last three games, including not playing at all on Saturday against the Houston Rockets, but he is the only healthy center on the roster and it seems like Dallas has to keep him until at least Dwight Powell, Gafford, Dereck Lively II, or Davis returns.

Their frontcourt rotation is extremely beat up, and a move they could consider is waiving Williams, a 6-foot-1 guard, to bring in another forward or center. Kidd talked about how they want a player taller than 6-foot-7, but if they are 6-foot-7 or shorter, they must play with physicality.

The Mavericks need size badly, and a move to sign another frontcourt player on a two-way deal may be the best option to hold them over until they can sign a player to their 15th roster spot. This is a desperate time for Kidd and the Mavericks, as they are doing what they can with the available players they have, and Harrison signing a wing with some size to a two-way deal may be exactly what they need.

It doesn't sound like P.J. Washington is going to return from his ankle sprain before the All-Star break, and after tonight's game against the Golden State Warriors, the Mavs only have one more game before having a week off. They need this time off badly, and if Washington can be ready to play by Dallas' February 21 game against the New Orleans Pelicans, they'll be in much better shape.
