Steph Curry is hilariously disgusted with Klay Thompson in recent meeting
By Noah Weber
The Dallas Mavericks' incredible offseason really started when they acquired Klay Thompson through a six-team sign-and-trade. Dallas signed Thompson to a three-year, $51 million deal, and this was easily one of the best value moves of the offseason across the league.
Dallas needed a shooter badly after an embarrassing shooting performance in the NBA Finals, and they added one of the best catch-and-shoot players of all time in Thompson.
Thompson is going to be the starting small forward for the Mavs to start the season, and although all of Dallas is ecstatic that Thompson is a Maverick now, the same can't be said about how his former Golden State Warriors teammate Stephen Curry feels.
Curry was hilariously disgusted at Thompson hanging out with Lively II
Curry, Thompson, and Dereck Lively II were all spotted at the New York Liberty game on Sunday, and Curry's reaction to Thompson hanging out with Lively II was hilarious.
"Ew," Curry said as he walked between Lively II and Thompson.
Curry and Thompson will obviously be known as one of the top duos the league has ever seen due to their unreal 3-point shooting, chemistry, and four NBA Finals wins. Curry's reaction to the two new teammates hanging out was hilarious, but he is still going to miss his longtime teammate.
Curry said that Thompson leaving the Golden State Warriors "will be a 'challenge' for his squad," (according to an interview with People's Natasha Dye). He is not undermining the departure of Thompson by any means, but he is definitely still excited to get to work.
Curry is no longer going to have his "splash brother" sharing the floor with him, and Thompson joining the Mavs could end up being one of the most impactful moves of the offseason from any team in the Western Conference.
We've never seen Luka Doncic play with a shooter like Klay Thompson, and he is going to be getting more open looks than he ever has. While Dallas differs from Golden State in the way that they run their offense, Thompson is still going to have the chance to thrive.
They may not run as many off-ball actions and rely on him as heavily, but that is going to be good for his game. Thompson isn't going to have to run around as much on offense, and this is going to allow him to lock in on draining open threes off the catch.
Dallas is still going to get him involved in "creative" ways according to assistant coach Jared Dudley, and the Mavs found their third scorer moving forward in Thompson.
It's going to take fans a while to get used to Curry and Thompson not sharing the floor anymore, but the Doncic-Thompson duo has the chance to be an elite one as well. Doncic and Kyrie Irving are going to take a weight off Thompson's shoulders offensively, and this Mavs offense has the opportunity to be the best 3-point shooting team in the NBA this season.
