1. Victor Wembanyama

Last week's rank: 1

Victor Wembanyama finished the month of January strong and will remain as the top rookie in his draft class in this week's rankings. The rookie phenom scored 20-plus points in all but one game throughout the month and stamped his name as one of the greatest rookies of all time throughout that January stretch.

Since the beginning of February, Wembanyama has struggled to have the same production he once did. The Spurs have not only won a single game in February, but Wemby has failed to score 20 in a single outing. The month is still young, so this is likely to change soon.

Despite struggling on the offensive end through two games, Wemby has been an absolute show-stopper on the defensive end. The seven-footer has denied five shots and grabbed four steals through the two games this past week. It's easy to block shots and snag balls out of the defender's hands when you have an eight-foot wingspan.

Even while not having the same production he once did, Wembanyama has still managed to be a force of the glass as well. The French standout has grabbed 14 rebounds in both outings.

While the Spurs aren't winning games, they have found that their future belongs in the hands of Wembanyama. San Antonio may not have the pressure of winning games and keeping their star happy at this moment, but they still need to establish the building blocks for the 20-year-old's career.

The Spurs' next game will be against a struggling Miami Heat team. For more updates on Victor Wembanyama and Dallas Mavericks basketball, stay plugged in.
