The Dallas Mavericks are playing their best basketball of the season after being hit hard by a massive COVID outbreak. Superstar Luka Doncic is back in the lineup and producing monster numbers, but the Mavs defense has led the way in the team’s four-game winning streak. Dallas is hungry to get back into the top four in the Western Conference, and they will need to get and stay healthy to make that a reality.

Luka’s numbers are a bit down by his lofty standards. The 22-year-old is averaging 25.0 points, 8.8 assists, 8.0 rebounds, and 1.2 steals in 34.8 minutes per game. Doncic has only played in 24 of the team’s 38 contests after a pair of ankle injuries and a stint in the health and safety protocols have limited him. Dallas is 15-9 when Luka has played this season.

The 2022 NBA All-Star game is just around the corner, and the league released the first returns of fan voting on Jan. 6. Here is a closer look at where Luka stands, and what MFFLs need to do to make sure Doncic makes his third straight All-Star team.

Stephen Curry is the top vote-getter in the Western Conference and the runaway leader among guards with over 2.5 million votes. Luka ranks second among West guards with 787, 690 fan votes. Ja Morant is third with just under 670,000. Klay Thompson and Devin Booker round out the top five in the conference’s backcourt.

Fans need to get out and vote for Doncic if they want to see him in the game. They can do so on NBA.com or via social media. Each supporter gets one vote per day in each place.

Fan voting counts for 50 percent of the total to determine the All-Star starters. Players and media get the remaining 50 percent. Luka is on pace to start by the fan voting, but Ja Morant, Donovan Mitchell, and Chris Paul will get serious consideration among the media. MFFLs need to get out and cast their ballots if they want Doncic in the starting five.

Fan voting remains open until Jan. 22, and votes count double on Jan. 7, 13, 17, and 20. Dallas Mavericks supporters and Luak Doncic fans across the globe will be casting their ballots. LD deserves to make his third straight All-Star start in Cleveland on Feb. 20, so be sure to vote.
