The Dallas Mavericks G League affiliate, the Texas Legends, played a set against the talented Greensboro Swarm over the holiday weekend. Loudon Love had a monster performance as the team learned valuable lessons in their series split, and here is a closer look at how the Legends performed.

Legends center Loudon Love dominates in loss to Swarm

Loudon Love was impressive in a loss to the Swarm on Friday night. The Legends created the shots they wanted on offense, but they just couldn't contain JT Thor and Vernon Carey Jr. in the paint in what was the difference in the game.

Love put up 18 points, 11 rebounds, and seven assists for the Legends. What impressed me the most was him being assertive in the paint against JT Thor, who was a tad taller. Love was able to box him out to get rebounds and scored inside, including this highlight-reel poster.

Mavs two-way player Eugene Omoruyi had a 20-point double-double, and Justin Jackson led the way with 22 points, but it was not enough to top the Swarm on Nov. 26.

Hometown talent helps Legends exterminate Swarm

Saturday night's game proved to be a challenge for the Legends. Carlik Jones surprisingly sat out, and the Legends were only able to suit up eight players.

Local homegrown players Brandon Fields and Olin Carter III would combine for 42 points as the Legends exterminated the Swarm 104-98. Greensboro never went away as the two teams continued to exchange the lead in the fourth quarter.

Justin Jackson had 18 points and six dimes as one of three players that played more than 40 minutes in the contest.

Players were exhausted after being pushed past their usual workloads. Texas Legends head coach George Galanopoulos told the eight players that suited up how proud he was of them following the impressive short-handed victory.

The Texas Legends face difficult tests in the coming weeks as they take on the Austin Spurs, San Antonio Spurs affiliate, and the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, Houston Rockets affiliate. Fans will not want to miss a second of the action and check back to The Smoking Cuban for more.
