Mavericks: Carlik Jones throws down unbelievable dunk in Legends win

The Dallas Mavericks signed undrafted rookie Carlik Jones to be part of their Las Vegas Summer League roster, and the 6’1 guard impressed enough to earn a training camp invite. Jones played well during the Mavs four preseason games, but he was waived because there was no room for him on their roster.
Jones signed to play for the Texas Legends in the G League, and he is already making his presence felt. The 23-year-old plays hard and finishes well inside. He started the season with a 37-point performance vs. the Lakeland Magic, and Jones narrowly missed a triple-double in the second game.
Carlik Jones put on a show on Nov. 12 as he helped the Legends defeat the Birmingham Squadron. Jones finished with 34 points, eight rebounds, seven assists, and two steals in 40 minutes of action. The 6’1 guard got the arena buzzing with a monster dunk. Here is a look at the play and more on if he gets a chance to play in the NBA this season.

Those were two of Jones’ 34 points on 13 of 23 shooting from the field on Friday night. He has two games of 34-plus points in his first three contests and is currently seventh in the G League in scoring. Jones continues to prove he can get buckets.
Carlik Jones will get a shot with the Dallas Mavericks this season if he keeps playing the way he has in his first three games.
