The Dallas Mavericks are hosting their annual Fan Jam on Saturday, Oct. 1 at 12:00 p.m. CT. The open practice is the first game of the 2022-2023 season at the American Airlines Center, and it is free for all MFFLs. Fans will be treated to a Mavs scrimmage, an introduction of the players, and so much more. It will also be every supporter’s first chance to see Luka Doncic this season.

Christian Wood, JaVale McGee, and Jaden Hardy will all suit up for the open practice, and fans will be able to see them in the team’s gear for the first time. McGee will likely be the starting center on Luka's team with Wood playing for the opposing squad.

Fan Jam always gives MFFLs a bit of insight into the team’s plans to start the regular season. There will be plenty to learn from this year’s event, including who is stepping up and taking over for Jalen Brunson.

Why every fan should attend the Mavericks 2022 Fan Jam

Tickets are free for Fan Jam, and the seating is first come first serve, so fans can get close to the action. Come early and get a seat near the court to marvel at the play of Luka Doncic and the Mavericks up close.

They often go starters against the backups in this event, but there are no set teams as of this writing. Regardless, fans will get to see Frank Ntilikina and Josh Green handling the ball and trying to fill in as the team’s third playmaker. Can one of those two excel in that role? If not, the Mavs will be forced to trade for an upgrade.

Fans will also get the chance to see a healthy Tim Hardaway Jr. play for the first time since January. The Mavericks need his shot-making and floor spacing, so supporters should watch closely to see how well THJ is moving and scoring.

Fan Jam presents a chance for the non-guaranteed players to shine. The team brought 20 players to training camp, but only 14 are on their regular season roster. The Mavs have a spot open, and someone could snag it with an impressive training camp. Saturday's open practice will be streamed on Mavs.com, and there will be plenty of eyes on the event. Can someone step up and put themselves in the driver’s seat for the team’s final roster spot?

Every MFFL near Dallas should head out to Fan Jam. It is a free event that will be fun, exciting, and a learning experience for all. Do not miss it.
