The Dallas Mavericks are in the middle of one of their best offseasons in team history, and this all started when they traded for Quentin Grimes. In this move, Dallas traded Tim Hardaway Jr. and three second-round picks to the Detroit Pistons for Grimes.

By acquiring Grimes, the Mavs added an elite defender and promising 3-point shooter while also getting younger. Hardaway Jr. was unplayable during the end of his tenure with the Mavs, and Grimes looks like he'll be a rotation piece for years to come.

They followed this move by signing Naji Marshall and making a sign-and-trade for Klay Thompson, and both of these moves are going to help them tremendously as well.

Thompson is poised to become the team's new starting small forward, and his shooting next to Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic is going to work wonderfully for them. The Mavs will look to find creative ways to get Thompson involved in the offense, and he will help with the scoring issues that plagued the team during the NBA Finals as well.

While Dallas has done a great job of constructing their roster, they still have work to do. The Mavs still have one open roster spot, and signing the right player that addresses some of their needs with this spot will be crucial.

While whoever is signed with this spot likely won't play much, it will be crucial for them to sign someone who is ready to roll when their number is called. The Mavs could also elect to upgrade their roster on the trade market if they really want to shake things up.

In this blockbuster proposal, the Mavericks give up an absolute haul of players and draft picks to land an All-Star forward from the New York Knicks, but is this deal worth it for them? We'll dive into the trade details and grade the trade for both teams involved.
