3. Klay Thompson
The Dallas Mavericks made one of the biggest moves in franchise history this summer when they completed a six-team sign-and-trade to acquire Klay Thompson from the Golden State Warriors. Dallas lost Josh Green as part of this deal, but it was worth it as they gained one of the greatest shooters of all time.
Thompson's elite shooting is going to add another element to this Mavericks offense, and he is focused on winning his fifth ring. While the Thompson signing alone helped the Mavs improve tremendously, the Spencer Dinwiddie signing helped both Thompson and the team as a whole.
While Dinwiddie may not play a ton with Thompson, he will create plenty of open looks for him and draw some of the defense away from him due to his ability to get to the rim. Dinwiddie will also save Thompson from having to handle the ball very much, as he is much better as an off-the-catch shooter rather than someone who has to create for himself.
Thompson can attack closeouts some and pull up for mid-range jumpers, but Dinwiddie creating open 3-pointers for him is going to be the main draw of this new duo.
Thompson will thrive when playing with the starters and the bench unit, and he and Dinwiddie have the potential to light up the scoreboard when sharing the floor together. Dinwiddie has the potential to bring the best out of everyone, and he may be the most underrated pickup of the offseason.
