The Dallas Mavericks finally filled their one and only open roster spot on Monday morning as they signed Spencer Dinwiddie to a one-year deal.

The Mavs had been interested in Dinwiddie since early in free agency, and they signed him on Monday after he was reported as the frontrunner on Sunday afternoon.

Dinwiddie now has the chance to get back on the right track in Dallas after an average tenure with the Los Angeles Lakers, and he has all the tools to return to being an elite role player.

Dinwiddie was on the Mavericks when they made the 2022 Western Conference Finals, and his playmaking, scoring, and shooting have been missed. Dallas was searching for shooting this offseason, and they did so by adding Quentin Grimes, Naji Marshall, Klay Thompson, and now Dinwiddie.

Dinwiddie's numbers from last season don't show his full capabilities as a shooter, and playing next to Luka Doncic again should allow his 3-point percentage to rise.

The Dinwiddie signing affects the Mavs more than people realize, and he is going to be a key piece on this team. Here are six players who will benefit the most from the Spencer Dinwiddie signing.

6. Quentin Grimes

Earlier this offseason, the Dallas Mavericks traded Tim Hardaway Jr. and three second-round picks to the Detroit Pistons for Quentin Grimes. Dallas was locked in on trading Hardaway Jr. this offseason, and they did so while also landing someone who will likely be a big piece of the rotation.

Grimes is an outstanding defender, and he is poised to replace Josh Green's production beautifully as he was traded to the Charlotte Hornets as part of the Klay Thomspon sign-and-trade.

Last season, Grimes averaged 7.0 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game while shooting 37.2 percent from the field and 33.8 percent from downtown. This was a down year for Grimes, and he was battling injuries during the second half of the season, but the Spencer Dinwiddie signing will definitely benefit Grimes.

Grimes will likely be one of the first guards off the bench with Dinwiddie, and he'll benefit from having an elite playmaker on the floor alongside him. Dinwiddie is one of the best playmakers on the team, and his scoring ability will draw the defense towards him, consequently creating open looks for Grimes.

Dinwiddie was also known as someone who led the younger players during his time in Dallas, and Grimes still has plenty to learn as he is only 24 years old. Grimes is going to be an outstanding fit in Dallas, and Dinwiddie is definitely going to bring the best out of him as they'll have the potential to be a lethal duo off the bench.
