Spencer Dinwiddie signing quietly changes everything for Luka Doncic

The Dallas Mavericks' game-changing offseason went into high gear this week as they made one move that filled a huge hole the Mavs had from the previous season.

Dallas needed guard depth badly, so they decided to sign Spencer Dinwiddie to a one-year deal to return to the Mavericks. Dinwiddie chose the Mavs over the Los Angeles Lakers, and fans can't wait to see him back on the floor in Dallas.

Dallas also made an underrated move on Friday afternoon when they signed Kessler Edwards to a two-way contract. The Mavs now only have one two-way spot available as they signed Brandon Williams earlier in the offseason, but all eyes are on the Dinwiddie signing and how it'll help the team.

Dinwiddie will likely be one of the first players off the bench next season, and his addition benefits several of the Mavs players, with Luka Doncic benefitting the most.

Doncic is someone who has already played with Dinwiddie in the past, and the two had great on-court chemistry during his first stint with the Mavs. With Dinwiddie back on the roster, the game will be much easier for Doncic.

Dinwiddie can help take some of the pressure off Doncic's shoulders when they're on the floor together, and he can also help decrease Doncic's minutes per game by allowing him to rest more. As we saw in the playoffs last season, Doncic was worn out by the end of it all and his injuries caught up to him.

With Dinwiddie on the roster, the Mavs now have someone who can play on and off the ball and be a complimentary piece next to Doncic and Kyrie Irving or lead the second unit on his own.

The Dinwiddie signing gives the Mavs tons of options, as he can be used in virtually any lineup due to his versatility and size, and he has the chance to be the first or second guard off the bench and could pass Jaden Hardy and Dante Exum in the rotation.

Dinwiddie and Doncic will likely play plenty of minutes together this next season, and his addition to the Mavs roster changes everything for Doncic in a good way as Dallas pushes to win their first NBA Finals since 2011.
