6 Dallas Mavericks who benefit the most from Spencer Dinwiddie signing
By Noah Weber
5. Luka Doncic
Anyone who watches Dallas Mavericks basketball knows that Spencer Dinwiddie and Luka Doncic were a deadly duo during the second half of the 2021-22 season and into the playoffs, and now they have the chance to team up again.
Dinwiddie and Doncic play so well together due to Dinwiddie's ability to play off the ball, and the duo will pick up right where they left off in 2023 when the Mavs traded Dinwiddie to the Brooklyn Nets. It was hard to see Dinwiddie go, but this move obviously paid off as it brought Kyrie Irving to Dallas, and now Dinwiddie is back.
While Dinwiddie will help Doncic when they're sharing the floor together, he'll also help him when he's on the bench. Dinwiddie has the ability to lead the bench unit when needed, and his steady hand at the point guard position will allow Doncic to get some much-needed rest throughout the season.
Dinwiddie can also be used as a spot starter when Doncic misses a game or two due to injury or rest. He has proved that he can thrive in this system next to Doncic, and he has the perfect opportunity to do it once again.
There aren't many players on this roster who can be trusted as a ball handler and an off-ball threat, and that's exactly what Dinwiddie will bring next season. Chemistry is also important for this duo, and they have already played over 80 games together.
Doncic's improvement as a shooter off the catch was also huge last season, and the Dinwiddie signing will only help him even more.
