The Dallas Mavericks rounded out their preseason schedule with a 114-104 win over the Detroit Pistons. Before that win, the team made some notable G League signings, including two former Mavericks.

In addition, the recent roster moves also cleared up multiple two-way roster spots. The Mavericks wished to fill both of these roster spots by the start of the regular season, and they did.

With one of the two-way roster spots the Mavs would go ahead and sign Greg Brown III. The former Texas Longhorn is most notably known for his elite athleticism and lockdown defense, and these two attributes will comfortably fill the Maverick's needs if he gets on the court.

Report: Mavericks sign defensive-minded wing to contract

Brown III seemed like an unlikely candidate to receive one of the Mavericks' two-way roster spots at times, but he seems to have beaten those odds with his play in training camp.

With the final two-way spot, the Mavericks would covert Dexter Dennis' contract to a two-way deal. Dennis surprised many fans with his spectacular play during the Mavericks' preseason schedule. His play was solid enough that he earned an unlikely spot on this year's roster.

The two-way wing dazzled on the defensive end of the floor with his lockdown defense. He allowed virtually zero offensive players past his 6'11 wingspan. He constantly used his size and weight to bully players on the perimeter. This would ultimately force the offensive player to pass out of an uncomfortable situation.

On the offensive end of the floor, Dennis would amaze many with his ability to float above the rim and throw down ferocious dunks. He would also showcase his solid dribble drive game on multiple occasions.

However, if Dennis wishes to become a consistent rotational player, it will be apparent he develops an outside shot. The 24-year-old would be plagued during his collegiate career by his lack of outside shot-making ability.

Dennis now enters his rookie year where he will be primed to take a massive jump in his basketball career. It will be crucial Dennis develops a consistent offensive game but he has all the tools to become a savvy rotational wing in today's NBA.
