One of the most fun parts of the entire NBA season is the month leading up to the NBA trade deadline.
There are always so many moving parts around the NBA, and trades involving star players happen annually at this point. It's not uncommon to see multiple all-star caliber players switch teams at the trade deadline, and this year will likely be no different.
The New York Knicks and Toronto Raptors already pulled off a massive blockbuster trade involving RJ Barrett and OG Anunoby, and another big trade could be on the way for the Raptors.
Shocking trade offer for Pascal Siakam could derail Mavericks' chance to land him
Raptors star forward Pascal Siakam is someone who has been in trade rumors since the summer, and the Dallas Mavericks were reportedly one of the teams that called about him back in June. Six months later, the Mavs reportedly showed interest in trading for him again.
Despite Dallas' interest in upgrading at the power forward position, it looks like Siakam could be heading elsewhere.
The Raptors and Indiana Pacers are in serious talks for Siakam, and they are trying to get a deal done. The reported package that the Pacers plan to send the Raptors includes Bruce Brown, three first-round picks, and other player(s) to help make the money match.
This is a massive and shocking potential return for Siakam who is on an expiring contract, and this leaves the Mavs with little to no chance of landing him. The Mavs couldn't offer a trade package that is even close to the Pacers' package, and Dallas' pursuit of Siakam may slow down after this news.
It was already reported that Dallas wasn't a "viable destination" for Siakam compared to other teams around the league, so who knows how aggressively the Mavs were pursuing him in the first place. Things could change quickly and the reported package from the Pacers and Raptors could be smoke, but it sounds like these teams could be getting a deal done soon barring any massive changes.
For all the latest news and rumors on the Dallas Mavericks this season as the trade deadline approaches, stay tuned.
