Kyrie Irving and the Dallas Mavericks made headlines earlier this week as the superstar point guard is recruiting LeBron James to Dallas. Irving re-signing with Dallas is starting to look like a guarantee, and he wants his longtime friend to join him.

James is still under contract with the Lakers, so if Dallas wants him, they'd have to trade for him. A team of LeBron, Kyrie, and Luka Doncic would be a lot of fun, but it is impractical.

According to NBA insider Marc Stein, "the Mavericks roughly have zero chance of assembling a legitimate trade push for the Lakers' LeBron James."

Stein went on to say that the only way LeBron gets traded is if he forces his way out of Los Angeles. He also said that the Mavericks' general counsel and chief ethics officer, Selou Lewis, played basketball in high school with LeBron. That could be part of a good recruiting piece for LeBron to want to come to Dallas, but there hasn't been any traction with the trade rumors in a few days.

It looks like LeBron is going to stay in Los Angeles for now, but if the Lakers don't make moves that make him believe they can contend for a ring, he could want to come play for the Mavericks.

If Dallas trades for James they would likely have to give up serious depth, but don't count out Nico Harrison. He has made multiple big moves since being in Dallas and a Mavs trade over the next weeks seems imminent.

Stay tuned to see what the Mavericks decide to do with the tenth overall pick and if King James forces his way out of LA. There doesn't seem to be much of a chance that he comes to Dallas, but things can change quickly during the offseason. If the Mavs don't trade for James, they will likely make a different trade.

I don't see any chance that Dallas doesn't make a trade this offseason, and we'll have you covered once it happens.
