The Dallas Mavericks have a tall task in the ensuing days as they take on generational talent Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs on October 25 to open up regular season action in a must-see matchup.

Wembanyama has already mocked any bust expectations with his spectacular performances in limited minutes during the Spurs' first few preseason games, so the Mavericks will have their hands full trying to configure a plan to stop the 7-foot-5 center.

Among those that have already fallen victim to Wembanyama’s prolific talent, is former Mavericks wing Reggie Bullock.

Yesterday during a preseason game between the Houston Rockets and San Antonio Spurs, Wembanyama used his length to intercept an outlet pass from Aaron Holiday that was intended for Cam Whitmore. He then nutmegged former Mavs’ wing Reggie Bullock (now on the Rockets).

Bullock stood almost aimlessly with the freakish Wembanyama running toward him, and you can’t really blame him as Bullock couldn’t really do much more than attempt to take a charge when trying to guard a player in the open court with the caliber of size and handle that Wembanyama possesses.

All 30 NBA teams will have trouble dealing with Wembanyama this upcoming season if he is able to stay healthy, and the Mavericks should take what happened to Bullock as a fair warning sign for October 25 when San Antonio will finally unleash Wembanyama to play his normal amount of minutes since preseason will be over.

The Mavericks and all of us watching at home have just as good of a bet as anyone in trying to figure out how to guard Wembanyama on the perimeter if he’s going to move like this, but at the very least Dallas can hopefully try and keep him out of the paint a little bit.

Hopefully, Dallas doesn’t appear on the wrong side of too many highlight videos after Wembanyama’s debut on October 25, but even if the French anomaly ruins the Mavericks' first game of the regular season, we’ll have you covered with everything involving the Dallas Mavericks as we continue forward through the rest of the season.
