The Dallas Mavericks have made some serious strides this summer when it comes to improving the roster around Luka Doncic, who will be the centerpiece of their franchise until he leaves or retires.
After missing the Play-In Tournament this past season, they needed to make some serious changes this summer, and they’ve done just that, completing a flurry of moves.
This has included the additions of Grant Williams and Richaun Holmes via trade, Seth Curry and Dante Exum via free agency, and Dereck Lively II and Olivier-Maxence Prosper via the draft. And on top of that, they re-signed Kyrie Irving to a three-year contract.
But despite all their activity up to this point in the offseason, there have still been some rumblings that Dallas could look to trade for a new starting center. Or at least, they hope to.
2 pros, 3 cons of potential Mavericks trade for Clint Capela
According to long-time NBA insider Marc Stein on his radio show, "The Saturday Stein Line" on 97.1 The Freak, the Mavericks “don’t want to be done” making moves and “would love” to attempt to trade for Atlanta Hawks big man Clint Capela again.
Rumors swirled of the Mavericks’ potential interest in Capela around the draft, and there were rumblings that a deal may have even been on the table. However, the Hawks wanted Josh Green in a trade, and Dallas didn’t budge.
But now, Dallas and Capela find themselves connected in trade rumors once again, as the Mavericks are looking to do anything they can to give themselves a chance to win a title as soon as possible.
Let’s run through two pros and three cons for a potential Mavericks trade for Capela.
