The Dallas Mavericks are set to have an extremely interesting offseason. Not only do they have to re-sign Kyrie Irving, but now, he’s in the recruitment business.

Irving has reportedly reached out to LeBron James in an attempt to bring him to Dallas. And while that’s a very unlikely scenario, it’s created a world of drama and rumors.

But even outside of bringing back Irving and the James rumblings, the Mavericks also have a lottery pick in the draft, free agency, and potential trades to deal with.

And now, on top of all of that, they could potentially look to get into the Chris Paul sweepstakes.

2 Pros, 2 cons of Dallas Mavericks targeting Chris Paul in free agency

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Phoenix Suns are considering a multitude of options in regard to Paul’s future with the team. Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report and TNT even reported that they could waive him.

If that’s the case, Paul would immediately become one of the hottest names in free agency this summer. Despite his age, he’s still fully capable of running an offense.

Now, the Mavericks may not be the most ideal fit for Paul, but for a team looking to push for a title, they should consider all options available to them.

On the off chance that Paul actually does get waived by Phoenix for nothing, signing him to a minimum contract or for the MLE would be an intriguing option for the Mavericks.

But with all of that in mind, here are two pros and three cons of the Mavericks bringing Paul on board.
