As of late the Dallas Mavericks have found a balance between their lineups and rotations, winning their last four out of five. The Mavs are preparing to face the Denver Nuggets on Sunday in Dallas.

In the team's previous matchup, they went head-up against one of the higher Western Conference seeds, the Oklahoma City Thunder, without Luka Doncic. In a game where the Mavericks were 12-point underdogs, it was a good showing from a team without their superstar.

Kyrie Irving did his best carrying the load, bringing in a game-high 36 points and shooting an efficient 66 percent from the field. Unfortunately, the support around Irving wasn't enough to overcome the seven-point deficit in the loss on Thursday.

Dallas Mavericks forward P.J. Washington's weakness is turning into a problem

In the starting lineup, Daniel Gafford and Derrick Jones Jr. contributed by scoring the ball, but P.J. Washington had a lot of good looks that he didn't knock down.

Washington has always had a below-average corner 3-point percentage, but we saw how poor his shooting could be in the game vs OKC.

Going forward, it's going to be crucial for P.J. to knock down some shots. The ability to consistently knock down the corner three will allow the floor to be spaced in the most efficient way.

The team is still playing well and looks forward to bouncing back against the Nuggets, hopefully getting Luka Doncic back in the lineup as well. The stars will continue to distribute and P.J. will continue to get the open looks he's been getting. It'll be on him to knock those down.

In order to be successful next to Doncic and Irving, the role players have to be able to knock down shots. Washington's defense has been great, but his 3-point shooting must get better for him to be a consistent difference-maker for the Mavs on offense.

If not, his fit in Dallas may never turn out to be as good as most people hoped.
