On Thursday night, the Dallas Mavericks lost to the Oklahoma City Thunder on the road. Dallas was going for their fifth-straight win after beating the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday night, but Dallas fell a little short.

Things could have gone much differently if Luka Doncic played in this game, as he got injured in the second half of Dallas' game against Golden State. This happened after Doncic threw a lob to Daniel Gafford, and he didn't return to the game.

Doncic's injury was ruled left hamstring soreness, and this injury came at the worst time considering how close the NBA Playoff race is right now.

NBA Insider gives revealing update on Mavericks star Luka Doncic's hamstring injury

Doncic didn't make the trip and missed the game against Oklahoma City on Wednesday night, but NBA Insider Shams Charania gave Mavs fans a positive report on Doncic's injury on Run It Back.

Charania said that the MRI on Doncic's left hamstring was clean, deeming that "it's not believed to be a serious injury." Charania also reported that there is "hope internally with the Mavericks that Luka Doncic will be fine for that game on Sunday (against the Denver Nuggets)."

This is great news for Mavs fans, as Charania said that this injury is "more of a day-by-day, day-to-day injury than anything that is going to cost them significant time."

With this report by Charania, it sounds like we could be seeing Doncic on the court sooner rather than later. Dropping two games in a row can be backbreaking at this point of the season, and it would be massive for the Mavs if Doncic could play on Sunday against the Denver Nuggets.

This game will be broadcasted on National TV, and Dallas will be looking for some revenge after losing their first two games to the Nuggets this season.

Hamstring injuries aren't something that should be rushed, and if Doncic can't play on Sunday, he could return to the lineup on Tuesday as Dallas travels to San Antonio to battle the Spurs.

For all the latest on Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks this season, stay tuned.
