The Dallas Mavericks drafted Luka Doncic with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, and he has been the face of the franchise ever since.

Although he and Dirk Nowitzki got to play one season together, the team was clearly Luka's after Dirk retired. Dirk passed the baton to Luka, and he has been leading the Mavs for over five years.

Doncic quickly became a fan favorite in Dallas due to his dazzling passes, insane scoring ability, and signature stepback three, and the Mavs have seen increased success with him on the roster.

Dallas has made the playoffs three of the last four seasons and made the Western Conference Finals in 2022. This was largely due to Doncic's dominance, and he has only gotten better since the start of his career.

Although Doncic has had a fabulous career in Dallas, there have been some scares of Doncic requesting a trade if the Mavs don't contend. Doncic later shut down these rumors, but it's clear that Doncic wants to win.

Wherever that may be.

It seems like the Mavs are in the clear for now regarding Doncic's happiness, but if things go south this season that could change. Of course Doncic hasn't voiced his opinion to play for any other NBA teams, but it's clear that Doncic wouldn't mind playing for a certain team in Europe.

Doncic grew up playing for Real Madrid and played there up until he was drafted by the Mavs. He learned so much while he was there, and it seems like he wouldn't be against a potential reunion.

"I don't know what the future is going to be like, but if I ever go back to Europe, I'm sure it will be Madrid," Doncic said.

Nothing is indicating that Doncic would leave the NBA to go back and play in Europe, but if Doncic were to do that, he would want to play for Real Madrid. That would be the only team he'd play for if he went to play in Europe. This would likely be extremely far into the future if it were to happen, but it's not something that should be ruled out at the end of his career.

Dallas recently had a preseason game against Real Madrid and Doncic was so happy to be back. He even did some charity work while he was there, and it's clear that Madrid is a place that he holds close to his heart.
