Luka Doncic's nagging injury should concern Mavericks fans
By Noah Weber
Luka Doncic and Slovenia just wrapped up their play in the FIBA World Cup, and now Doncic will have a few weeks of rest before Dallas Mavericks training camp starts.
Doncic had a great World Cup, as he averaged 27 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 6.1 assists per game. He was dominant, but that's not what most people's focus goes to when it comes to Doncic and the FIBA World Cup.
Everyone seems to be talking about his ejection from complaining to the referees, even though he played phenomenally and showed love to fans whenever he could.
Luka Doncic's nagging injury should concern Mavericks fans
But worse news came from the FIBA World Cup regarding Doncic, and it should deeply concern Mavs fans.
After Slovenia's loss to Lithuania, here's what Doncic had to say about his thigh injury per Grant Afesth of Dallas Basketball.
"It's not okay."
- Luka Doncic
This is an awful sign for Mavs fans, as Doncic was battling this injury for the second half of last season. It doesn't seem that it has fully gotten better, and he has a quick turnaround before having to start training camp for the Mavs.
Doncic will have to take his recovery over the next few weeks and going into training camp seriously, as the Mavs can't afford for him to miss extended time during the regular season. He is the driving force of this team, and the Mavs will go as far as he goes.
Doncic's thigh having more issues during Slovenia's FIBA World Cup play wasn't ideal, and hopefully, some rest will get him back to feeling 100 percent.
We'll have you covered with all the latest news and rumors surrounding the Dallas Mavericks and Luka Doncic this summer, so stay tuned.
