Josh Green has become one of the more loved guys on the Dallas Mavericks. His uncanny ability to go 100 percent all of the time, as his engine constantly works over time, is a huge reason why, too. Fans love a guy who isn't going to give up but will also give his all, all of the time.

There is something else Green is known for, though, and that would be his corner three-point shooting and his defense. The shooting started to get really good during a stretch last season. Out of nowhere, it's the middle of the season, and Green is shooting above 40 percent from three in the corners.

His defense is important, though, because he will likely have to guard the opposing team's best wing, or guard, on the floor while Green is on the floor. He is that good of a defender. One person recently described his defense in a way that fits perfectly, and fans will love it.

Mavericks' Josh Green draws comparisons to Matthew Dellavedova

At a point, Mavericks' fans wanted Matisse Thybulle, who has made a name for himself as a very good defender in the NBA. Dallas signed Thybulle to an offer sheet, but Portland ended up matching it, forcing Thybulle to return to the Blazers.

This upset fans as many wanted Thybulle as he is an elite defender.

Thybulle and Green play on Australia together, and Green happens to start over Thybulle. So, in a way, maybe the Mavericks still got their guy.

But now Green is being compared to Thybulle. and another Australian player.

"Defensively, it's totally different than Matisse," Australian national team coach Brian Goorjian said. "Matisse is off the ball; you've got these long arms; he's switchable and gets steals off the ball. [Green] is a bulldog on the ball, like Delly on steroids. The ball pressure was incredible."

Saying he is 'Delly on steroids" is actually a huge compliment. Remember when the Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors were going head to head in the finals all of those years? Matthew Dellavedova was the guy assigned to guard Stephen Curry in the 2015 NBA Finals. While, yes, that is an impossible task, Dellavedova was constantly making things hard on Curry.

If Green can be a guy like that, the Mavericks have something special in Josh Green. The best part is he is only starting his developmental process. This is just the beginning for Green, as he and the Mavs have started contract extension talks. Green seems to want to remain in Dallas for the extended future, and fans should be excited for Dallas' young core.
