On Sunday, the Dallas Mavericks battled the Denver Nuggets at home.

This was a highly-anticipated game, as the Mavs were coming off a road loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder, and this game did not disappoint.

The Mavs ended up beating Denver 107-105, and this was the first game that Josh Green missed with his ankle injury. Green went down in Dallas' loss to Oklahoma City, and although the X-rays were negative, no one knew how serious the injury actually was.

We've seen players like Dereck Lively II bounce back quickly from ankle injuries, and the Mavs typically don't give many updates when it comes to injuries. If Green's injury wasn't serious, they likely would have just said it was a day-to-day injury, but head coach Jason Kidd's injury report ahead of Sunday's game was not great news, to say the least.

Kidd said that Green would be out "a couple weeks" and this is likely an indication that this sprain was severe. This injury came at the worst possible time for the Mavericks, as they only have 14 games remaining in the season, but there is still hope.

Derrick Jones Jr. has been playing great in the month of March, and he had a great game against Denver on Sunday as he finished with nine points and eight rebounds. Jones Jr. was all over the glass in this game and looked great when attacking the rim. He has also been excellent as a shooter this month, as he is shooting 47.4 percent from downtown in March alone.

Green's shooting and hustle will be missed, but all that matters is that he gets healthy before the playoffs. Dallas likely won't rush him to return, as they have bigger things to play for in the postseason. Green has been a crucial piece at points for the Mavs this season, and him returning to his peak form could be crucial down the stretch.

Dallas' next game is tomorrow night against the San Antonio Spurs.

For all the latest on Josh Green, Jason Kidd, and the Dallas Mavericks this season, stay tuned.
