The Dallas Mavericks are sitting at 7-2 and second in the Western Conference and coming off a dominant blowout win against the LA Clippers.

Luka Doncic is playing elite basketball and the role players around him are stepping up big time.

The team also seems to have much more chemistry than last season, and Luka and Kyrie Irving are starting to click.

Mavericks coach Jason Kidd gives concerning injury update for veteran forward

Despite all of the positives from this season, the injury bug hit the Mavs over the last week or two.

Maxi Kleber has been battling a toe injury over the last few weeks, and he re-injured it in the Toronto game.

Kleber was out for Friday night's game against the LA Clippers, and now he'll be out even longer.

Mavs head coach Jason Kidd gave an update regarding Kleber's injury on Friday night, and it doesn't sound good at all.

Kidd said that Kleber tried to play on his toe but it still didn't feel great. He said they are going to give Kleber an extended amount of time to rest, and "he will be re-evaluated in a couple of weeks."

Right when Mavs fans thought the squad was finally healthy, Kleber is now going to be out for a few weeks. This is not ideal, as Dallas needs all the frontcourt help they can get, but Kleber wasn't playing particularly well in the first place.

This time away for Kleber could also allow Olivier-Maxence Prosper to crack the rotation and play some valuable minutes. Prosper was sent down to the G League on Saturday night, and he showed that he could be ready for more NBA action as soon as tonight.

Hopefully, Kleber's time off will allow him to fully heal from his toe injury and return to his peak form. Dallas needs someone off the bench to step up when Dereck Lively II is out of the game, and having Kleber regain some confidence would be massive for this team.

For all the latest on Maxi Kleber and the Dallas Mavericks this season, stay tuned.
