The Dallas Mavericks defeated the LA Clippers 144-126 on Friday night, and Luka Doncic played one of his best games of the season.
Doncic finished with 44 points, six rebounds, six assists, and one steal.
He seemingly couldn't miss, and he showed that he owns the Clippers once again. After the game, Mavs PR reported that Doncic now has five 40-point games against the Clippers for his career which is his most 40-point games against any other franchise.
Luka Doncic shows he still owns the Clippers in dominant Mavericks win
Doncic seems to play better against the Clippers than any other team in the NBA, and he displayed that in an elite fashion Friday night. He shot 17-21 from the field and 6-9 from downtown, once again showing that his shooting has taken a massive jump this season.
His 3-point jumper looks smoother and he is shooting the ball with more confidence than he ever has. He also looks much more comfortable shooting off the catch, which has helped his on-court fit next to Kyrie Irving.
Along with Doncic, Irving was someone who also looked unstoppable offensively. He finished with 27 points, six rebounds, three assists, and two steals. His pull-up jumper was automatic, and he put on his best offensive performance of the season.
Dereck Lively II returned from a non-COVID illness, and although he only finished with six points, his defensive impact was felt from the opening tip. He swatted one shot and was actively helping out on the glass. Several lob passes were just out of Lively II's reach, and he has quickly turned into one of Dallas' most important players.
Dallas' next game is on Sunday night against the New Orleans Pelicans.
For all the latest on Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving, and the Dallas Mavericks this season, stay tuned.
