Dallas Mavericks appear in trade speculation for controversial forward
By Noah Weber
The Dallas Mavericks are on day three of a four-day break, as their game against the Golden State Warriors that was scheduled for Friday was postponed due to the tragic death of Warriors assistant coach Dejan Milojevic.
With the Mavs having so much time off, hopefully, Dante Exum can get healthy, as they have missed him for the last couple of weeks.
The Mavs are playing well, but inconsistently, and it looks as if a move could be on the horizon for Dallas.
Dallas Mavericks appear in trade speculation for controversial forward
Rumors have been flying that Dallas is looking to upgrade at the power forward position, and their newest rumored trade interest is in a young forward from the Eastern Conference.
Matt Moore of Action Network reported that the Mavericks have shown interest in a potential trade for Charlotte Hornets forward Miles Bridges. He said that Bridges is a "popular trade target" and listed Dallas as one of the three teams that have shown interest, along with Detroit and Sacramento.
He is quietly having an excellent season, and he could end up being a solid fit on the Mavs if they were to trade for him.
This season, Bridges is averaging 20.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.1 steals, and 0.5 blocks per game while shooting 46.4 percent from the field and 35.1 percent from 3-point range. Bridges is an excellent rebounder for his position, and that is exactly what the Mavs need.
His ability to play both the three and the four is intriguing as well, as it has been rumored that the Mavs want to upgrade both of those positions. Offensively, Bridges is a solid scorer in the paint and finishes above the rim often. He is someone the defense always has to keep their eyes on, as he can erupt for an emphatic jam at any moment because he is an active cutter.
Bridges is also a solid shooter off the catch and occasionally off the dribble. He attacks closeouts well, especially on slower forwards, and has an underrated bag of moves that he uses to get to his spots in the paint.
Defensively, Bridges can switch and has the size to battle in the post. He is an intriguing piece for Dallas to pursue, but his off-court actions have soured fans on him over the last few years.
Bridges is definitely someone who would be considered a controversial trade target by some, but his on-court fit in Dallas could be too good to be true due to his solid positional size, rebounding ability, and underrated defense.
Dallas has also been in trade rumors for his teammate, P.J. Washington.
