For three seasons, Dallas Mavericks fans had the privilege of watching Boban Marjanovic suit up for the squad. While he didn't typically play heavy minutes, the big man still turned out to be a draw with the Mavs faithful and a favorite among teammates, especially Luka Doncic.

Unfortunately, Dallas traded the Serbian center to the Houston Rockets in the 2022 offseason. It had the opportunity to bring him back in 2023 when he was a free agent but, for some reason, opted not to.

Marjanovic re-signed with the Rockets for the 2023-24 campaign, in which he played in just 14 games. Hilariously, his latest appearance showed why he is a beloved figure across the league.

Boban Marjanovic intentionally misses free throw to give fans free Chick-fil-A

Houston had little to play for in its regular-season finale after already being eliminated from postseason contention. Still, it bested the playoff-bound Los Angeles Clippers 116-105, thanks in large part to Marjanovic's 13 points in the fourth quarter.

He could have added one more point to his season-high if he tried to sink a free throw late in the final period. However, knowing that his former team has a "Bricken' for Chicken" promo in cooperation with Chick-fil-A where fans are treated to free chicken if an opposing player bricks both attempts at the charity stripe, Marjanovic purposefully and smilingly missed his second shot after his first rattled out.

With the Rockets leading by just eight at that moment, it's interesting that the journeyman sacrificed a point to give the audience what they were clamoring for. His antics also demonstrate why he remains highly regarded by many Mavs fans.

In addition to his ability to entertain people, Marjanovic has proven to be a hardworking guy and has exhibited exemplary leadership skills. As such, he was loved by many other players (subscription required) and even deserved to win the 2022 Teammate of the Year award when he was still playing in Dallas.

The Mavs could have also tried acquiring the 35-year-old veteran again just to provide Doncic with his buddy, with whom he regularly teamed up with to deliver laughs. But as it turned out, the organization has done well in supplying Luka with teammates with whom he appears to be having fun this season.
