Exclusive: Mavericks rookie's newfound 'brotherhood' with Luka Doncic

One of the latest signings heading into Dallas Mavericks training camp was Dexter Dennis.
Dennis was a prospect that wasn't talked about much during the pre-draft process, but the 6-foot-5 wing took his game to the next level at Texas A&M as a fifth-year senior.
He averaged 9.5 points, 5.7 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 0.8 steals, and 0.6 blocks per game. Dennis was a vital piece for the Aggies and started in all 34 games he played in.

Despite Dennis' undeniable athleticism, he went undrafted.
Dennis had a solid preseason, showcasing flashes of his defense and athleticism, ultimately helping him land one of Dallas' two-way spots.
Dennis hasn't seen the floor yet in the NBA regular season, but the young rookie has been working hard behind the scenes and getting to know his teammates.
In an exclusive interview with The Smoking Cuban, Dennis shared the details of his growing "brotherhood" with Mavs superstar guard Luka Doncic.
"It's definitely a friendship there, it's definitely a brotherhood that's growing," Dennis said. "Our foreign trip definitely helped that. We went out to dinner and sat by each other."
The dinner that Dennis was referring to was likely one of the dinners that Doncic hosted. Donic stepped up in a major way as a leader on that preseason trip, and one of the things he did was host players-only dinners.
"As far as our relationship, I think it's really really growing in a positive direction," Dennis said. "Obviously I think he sees something in me, and everybody sees something in him...He's somebody that I look up to for sure."
Despite being three weeks older than Doncic, Dennis looks up to him. This shows how Doncic has grown as a leader and how Dennis always seems ready to learn.
During the open period of practice on Saturday, Dennis and Doncic were spotted talking some friendly trash and sharing a laugh. This relationship between Doncic and Dennis is just getting started, and maybe we'll see the two share the court together shortly.
We'll have you covered with all the latest on Luka Doncic, Dexter Dennis, and the Dallas Mavericks this season, so stay tuned.
