The Dallas Mavericks officially brought Dirk Nowitzki back to the organization last summer as a special advisor to owner Mark Cuban. There were questions about how much the Tall Baller from the G would be involved, but fans saw him plenty this season. He was on-hand in the playoffs, even on the road as the Mavericks reached the Western Conference Finals.
Nowitzki has grown close with superstar Luka Doncic, and he loves the Mavericks. Dirk has an office as the team’s recently upgraded practice facility, and he appears locked in on helping them win their second championship.
Nowitzki is an on-court legend, and one of the funniest people away from the hardwood. He took a moment to poke fun at himself on June 10 by responding to a FIBA basketball Tweet.
Dallas Mavericks GOAT Dirk Nowitzki playfully pokes fun at his game
FIBA wanted fans to name the player given the attribute bars they posted, and Nowitzki made the case against it being him. Check out his response below.
Nowitzki always playfully jokes about his poor defense, but the Mavericks finished inside the top ten in defensive rating five times from 2005 to 2011. Dirk was a strong rebounder that averaged nearly one block per game during his prime. He certainly deserves more than two bars on defense, but the Mavericks GOAT rarely misses a chance to provide fans with a laugh.
Supporters can see Dirk Nowitzki on their screens as he joins Luka Doncic, Mark Cuban, and Boban Marjanovic in having cameo appearances in Adam Sandler’s new movie Hustle on Netflix. Nowitzki playfully brings the laughs during his scene in the film too.
It is a massive offseason for the Dallas Mavericks and fans know Dirk Nowitzki will be in the meetings as they look to upgrade their roster. Expect the Tall Baller from the G to offer his input, and it will be interesting to see what the Mavs can do this summer. Stay tuned for all the latest on Dirk Nowitzki and the Mavericks at The Smoking Cuban.
