The 2023 NBA Draft Lottery takes place on Tuesday night, and all 14 teams are dreaming of landing the number one overall pick and Victor Wembanyama. The 7’5 big man can shoot threes, handle the ball, and protect the rim. He is a true Unicorn that could quickly take over the league. Wembanyama is the most hyped prospect since LeBron James, and he will find out his next team on May 16.
The NBA Draft Lottery will determine the final order. The top four picks will be selected on Tuesday night with the others determined in inverse order of regular season record. Fans can read the league’s full explainer here.
The 2023 draft lottery has a bit of extra importance for the Mavericks because they lose their pick entirely if it falls outside the top ten. Dallas desperately needs it, which will make for a nervous night that fans won’t want to miss.

2023 NBA Draft Lottery odds to select number one overall
All 14 teams that missed the playoffs take part in the draft lottery. The NBA flattened the odds in 2017 to give the teams with the three worst records an equal shot at landing the number one overall pick. Here are the odds of winning the lottery and getting the right to draft Victor Wembanyama.

3. San Antonio Spurs- 14 percent
4. Charlotte Hornets- 12.5 percent
5. Portland Trail Blazers- 10.5 percent
6. Orlando Magic- 9.0 percent
7. Indiana Pacers- 6.8 percent
8. Washington Wizards- 6.7 percent
9. Utah Jazz- 4.5 percent
10. Dallas Mavericks- 3.0 percent
11. Chicago Bulls- 1.8 percent
12. Oklahoma City Thunder- 1.7 percent
13. Toronto Raptors- 1.0 percent
14. New Orleans Pelicans- 0.5 percent

The Mavericks can select in the top four, tenth, or not at all in the 2023 NBA Draft. They have a 79.8 percent chance to keep their pick after Tuesday’s lottery. Dallas has a 13.9 percent chance of moving into the top four and a 65.9 percent shot at selecting tenth.
