Newest Mavericks conspiracy theory would set the NBA on fire

NBA fans would spark chaos like no other if the Mavericks got the No. 1 overall pick in back-to-back years.

Dallas Mavericks fans will forever hold a grudge against Nico Harrison for making the Luka Doncic trade for good reason, but if there were a catch to one of the worst trades of all time, fans might not hate the trade as much as they once did.

Crazier things have happened, like how the Mavericks got the No. 1 pick in last year's draft. It was impossible, but it happened. If the Mavs did that back-to-back years, could it be the conspiracy theory that fans thought all along? Fans have already fueled a so-called conspiracy from the Cooper Flagg lottery, and there's no doubt that fans will say the same thing this year, and even louder.

Andy Bailey from Bleacher Report says that if the Mavs get another No. 1 pick, the NBA is making it up to Dallas by giving them back-to-back first overall picks after trading Doncic. Crazy, but it would set off a firestorm that nobody has ever seen.

Mavs getting No. 1 pick again would send the NBA world into shambles

The Mavs have a 6.7 percent chance of doing the same this year, better odds than 1.8 percent in 2025. If they're able to pull off another miracle, BYU's AJ Dybantsa should be the first name taken off the board. Obviously, it's a long shot, but the odds are better, and we never hear the end of it from fans if the NBA had a script the whole time.

Of course, there is always video footage of the ping pong balls before the lottery teams are revealed, but the same team getting lucky back-to-back years when the Washington Wizards and Utah Jazz haven't been able to crack through? That would feel like a cursed nightmare for those organizations.

For the Mavs, they'd be getting a star who's a three-level shot-maker. There are a few names that would perfectly pair with Flagg, but Dybantsa should be a no-brainer for the Mavericks. Two guys at 6-foot-9 who can knock down shots and take over on offense are enough, but on the defensive end, Flagg and Dybantsa have perfect length to lock down opponents and block shots.

That is, if the Mavs want to go the regular route to draft someone, but if they want to play chess with that hypothetical No. 1 pick, they can too.

The Mavs can use a No. 1 pick to pull off the impossible

The Los Angeles Lakers have a pick in the mid-20s, but if the Mavs can get a No. 1 pick and trade it to the Lakers to get Doncic back, it may be worth giving up Dybantsa for.

Mark Cuban giving the keys to Patrick Dumont only caused more chaos. Without Harrison in the picture, Cuban is the voice the Mavs executives need to listen to if a Doncic reunion is possible. Cuban and Doncic still have an excellent relationship, and he holds the cards for any hope at a comeback.

It's going to take a village to correct Harrison's asinine mistake, but it's going to take a lot of luck for that to happen.
