Even with the All-Star break, the Dallas Mavericks organization can't seem to stay out of the national headlines. The organization has officially reached rock bottom after the arrest of assistant coach Darrell Armstrong.
While Armstrong's coaching career with Dallas is now in major question, the team has been given major credit for showing huge resiliency on the court since the franchise decided to trade away Luka Doncic.
This has been no doubt the craziest month of Mavs basketball, as the organization has faced turmoil and frustration in a way we've never seen before.
The Doncic trade got the attention of NBA Commissioner Adam Silver, and Mavs fans probably won't be moved that much by what he had to say.
Silver's comments ignore how Mavericks fans actually feel
As the commissioner of the NBA since 2014, Silver has seen plenty of changes to the game of basketball. Just like everybody else in the world, he was shocked to find out Doncic getting traded to the Lakers for Anthony Davis.
He made a comment on the trade during All-Star weekend and probably won't move Mavs fans at all, as Silver played devil's advocate by telling Mavs fans to just give it all a chance.
“All I can say to the fans is that time will tell if it's a smart trade, but I think they should believe in their organization," Silver said in regards to the Doncic trade.
This obviously won't help the frustration from Mavs fans, as we've seen fans getting kicked out from American Airlines Center for holding up signs and wearing shirts voicing their frustration to the trade that only led to an injury-prone Davis getting injured during his debut.
Silver's comments just don't move the needle enough, and it's not just that, but he doesn't seem to understand the stages of loss that Mavs fans are dealing with and might be dealing with for years to come.
The organization has been dealing with upset fans and it doesn't look like it's going to stop anytime soon. The players on the court are being praised for their continued hard work, but the lingering thought of Nico Harrison trading away his top dog will never sit right with Mavs fans.
Doncic being traded in the middle of the night behind everyone's back posed a precedent that nobody's safe, and even some of the best players in the world can be moved any given night. The bigger picture is also about how other agents around the league might not do business with Harrison after the way he moved Doncic without warning.
