Mark Cuban's NSFW Lakers rant exposes painful Luka Doncic truth for Mavericks fans

Mark Cuban's rant proves why selling the Mavericks was the wrong move.

Dallas fans have probably had the worst year in sports. With Luka Doncic and Micah Parsons getting traded within the same calendar year, this pretty much shows that not even the Doncic trade was the worst thing to happen to the city. Even though the city was blindsided by the Doncic trade, Nico Harrison should be lucky that Cooper Flagg fell into his lap.

The Doncic trade also shows how Mark Cuban was careless to leave the team in Harrison's hands. Sure, the Dallas Mavericks got back to the NBA Finals for the first time since 2011, but this shows how careless Harrison was, which put fans pointing the finger at Cuban as well, even though he tried to stop the trade from happening. Cuban was recently on the "Gil's Arena" podcast, hosted by former NBA player Gilbert Arenas, to rant about the Lakers and Doncic, among other things, and it shows how deep down he really feels about the Doncic trade.

"I hope they go 0-82," Cuban joked. "I love Luka to death. He is a great guy...but (expletive) the Lakers."

Mark Cuban's rant reveals his real feelings after the Luka Doncic trade

It's not surprising that the Doncic trade exposed the real thoughts around executives from the league. After all, the Chicago Bulls reportedly explained how badly they wanted Doncic, with their front office willing to give up for "anyone and everyone" for Doncic. The Slovenian superstar is a generational talent, and it's no surprise that any team should make an offer like that for him.

Cuban expresses what Mavs fans everywhere think about the trade. Fans were torn apart and disgusted that such a trade would even be thought of in the first place. If the trade was going to be made, why wouldn't Harrison start an all-out bidding war and weigh offers like the Bulls' offer, respectively?

This isn't the first time that Cuban and former GM Donnie Nelson were under fire for such a move. Steve Nash went off to win back-to-back MVPs for the Phoenix Suns, with Mavs fans asking the question of why Nash would be traded in his prime. Nash developed a strong relationship that still holds to this day with Mavs legend Dirk Nowitzki. Nash was criticized by many to beat out Shaquille O'Neal for the MVP, but either way, the Mavs shouldn't have given him up.

When Cuban gave up ownership, it didn't seem like the end of the world. Harrison had connections with Nike, along with some of the best basketball stars in the universe. It's almost like Cuban's true reaction to Arenas is exactly what fans wanted to hear, but the reaction also makes fans wary of why such a move happened in the first place for Cuban to give up ownership.

The best way to go about something like this is unfortunate, but the only way anyone could go about this is to move on. Flagg is about to generate tons of ticket sales back to Dallas, even when something as simple as the financial aspect looked completely dead in the water, especially when Dallas fans were chanting for Harrison to be fired.
