No matter how much time has passed since the Luka Doncic trade, Dallas Mavericks fans may never get over it, regardless of what happens on the floor with Nico Harrison's new Kyrie Irving-Anthony Davis duo.

This move will likely go down as one of the worst moves in sports history, and it shattered the hearts of Mavs fans and Doncic fans across the world. The city of Dallas fell in love with Doncic over the six and a half seasons he spent here, and the loyalty that Doncic showed the Mavericks was not replicated.

The Mavericks happened to get lucky enough to draft two loyal superstars back to back with Dirk Nowitzki and Doncic, and rather than Harrison betting on continuity and loyalty like the Mavs did with Nowitzki, which ultimately led to the team winning the NBA Finals in 2011, Harrison decided to blow the team up by trading Doncic less than one year after the Mavs' first finals appearance since 2011.

Nico Harrison's story about the Luka Doncic trade isn't adding up

Doncic was heartbroken when he found out he was traded, as he reportedly cried and threw his phone across the room in anger, and right when Mavericks fans begin to feel somewhat better about the trade, a new report or quote comes out that sends them back to phase one of mourning this shocking move that continues to dominate sports news.

The most recent gut-wrenching element of the Doncic saga dropped on Friday as ESPN's Malika Andrews talked with Doncic one-on-one about the trade as a whole, and he tripled down on something that every Mavericks fan knew to be true a long time ago.

When asked by Andrews if "his intention was to finish his career in Dallas," Doncic simply answered, "Of course. It's an easy question."

Doncic wanted to be a Maverick for life, just as he made clear in his letter to the city of Dallas the day after the trade, as well as during his Los Angeles Lakers introductory press conference, but Harrison has provided pushback on that part of the drama over the last few months, causing an uproar among fans who believe the opposite.

Harrison said that he wasn't sure if Doncic was going to sign the supermax extension this summer during his closed-door press conference with select members of Dallas local media earlier this week, and he also alluded to this during his press conference in Cleveland the morning after the trade went down. His side of the story doesn't seem to add up, as Doncic would be out millions of dollars if he didn't sign the supermax, and every detail coming from Doncic indicates that his former GM is not telling the truth.

It has even been reported that the Mavericks were never going to give Doncic the supermax extension to begin with (which is an unthinkable stance to begin with considering Doncic is one of the best players on the planet and hasn't reached his prime yet), and Harrison continuing to push this narrative about the trade is only hurting the Mavericks more.

Doncic was in the process of buying a new home in Dallas before getting traded (and the Mavs knew about this and congratulated him despite Harrison talking with Rob Pelinka about trading him to the Lakers behind the scenes at the same time), he cried on the bench during the Mavs' tribute video for him, and he continues to make it clear that he wanted to remain in Dallas despite gearing up for a serious playoff run with the Lakers. None of these details add up with Harrison's claim that he was worried Doncic didn't want to sign a supermax deal and remain with the Mavericks, and with Doncic reaffirming again that he wanted to stay in Dallas, someone's side of the story is wrong.

And it's obvious who.
