Is Luka Doncic playing tonight? Jazz at Mavericks injury update for October 10
By Noah Weber
The Dallas Mavericks began the preseason on Monday night, and fans couldn't be more excited for basketball to be back at the American Airlines Center.
While four of Dallas' five expected starters were out, including Luka Doncic, there were still plenty of positives to take away from the Mavs' game against the Memphis Grizzlies.
Dereck Lively II picked back up right where he left off, and Doncic was there to support his teammates from the bench.
Dallas is set to take on the Utah Jazz tonight at 7 PM CT for their second preseason game, and all eyes will be on the Mavs as they inch closer to the regular season. Will Doncic play tonight? Who on the Mavs is going to sit out against Utah? Find out all the latest here.
Luka Doncic's status for Jazz at Mavericks on October 10
Doncic suffered a calf contusion before training camp began, and although he participated in part of the first day of training camp, he hasn't practiced since. The Mavs announced that Doncic would be re-evaluated one week from when the injury was announced, which was yesterday, and there have been no updates from the Mavs' end.
Doncic is out for tonight's game against the Jazz.
Dallas Mavericks' full injury report vs Utah Jazz on October 10
There haven't been any official injury reports this preseason, and since the Mavs didn't have practice on Wednesday, Jason Kidd didn't have the chance to update the media on any of the injuries.
Dante Exum underwent surgery on his right wrist earlier this week, and he'll be out. Maxi Kleber and Kessler Edwards are both battling ankle injuries, and their status is unknown for tonight's game against the Jazz. Neither player played on Monday night.
P.J. Washington missed Monday night's game against the Grizzlies with hip tightness, and there is no news regarding if he'll play against the Jazz although Kidd assured the media this injury is nothing to be concerned about.
Brandon Williams also missed Monday night's game with a calf strain.
Luka Doncic's calf injury history
Doncic's left calf has not been too kind to him over the last two years. A left calf strain caused Doncic to miss the first three games of the 2022 NBA Playoffs and he also injured his left calf during last preseason.
This calf contusion is not the same injury as the two past calf strains, and this injury doesn't seem serious.
